I love kit building and that is why I am on the design team for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge project. We take an inspiration kit each month and proceed to replicate it, or as we say, counterfeit it. This is a free, friendly group that helps inspire you to use up supplies you already own. We are not about needing to buy the latest and greatest thing (though we won’t stop you if you enjoy new crafty goodies😉 ).
Welcome to May. I was working a big volunteer job in April and have been MIA here for that reason. I’m hoping through our May inspiration kit to get a backlog of travel layouts done. Before we talk about that, let’s see what our inspiration actually is! Team member JoJo is our hostess this time. She chose the Anywhere but Here digital collection from Traci Reed (available at SweetShoppeDesigns.com) to inspire us. This work was part of the physical paper collection produced for Echo Park called Away We Go. So you just may have some of these same designs hiding in your paper stash.
Before we dive into the details of this kit, let’s give a warm welcome to our guest designer this month. Kathy McElfresh, also known as ScrappyKathy in Instagram and YouTube. Kathy and I have been in many of the same scrappy circles for years and I’m happy she is joining us here this month. Her layouts are truly inspiring!
Okay, now we are ready for some inspiration! Here are a few looks at what we have in store this time around. As I mentioned earlier I’ll be working on some travel layouts and that is because this is a very travel themed kit! However, there are many everyday icons and phrases that can pulled and taken in different directions. Hot air balloons, florals, hearts, sunglasses and phrases such as “relax” and “this way” are all flexible!

Since I knew exactly what I needed to do with this inspiration, pulling my kit was easy. In fact, it was a bit of a cheat. I pulled out a bin of supplies that I had already started collecting! I’m using my Vicki Boutin Where to Next collection.

I’ve got the paper pad from the collection. This pad contains only some of the open stock paper from the line. It also has some unique papers to the collection. I don’t generally like when paper pads are the only way to get unique items. In this case they are pretty mild papers so they will work well for backgrounds. As you can see I also have a range of embellishments from die cuts to frames to stickers. The only thing I added in was an alphabet die set (a current favorite upper and lower case duo!)
Don’t forget that each month I also create my own elements to add into my kit. Of course these are inspired by the original kit, but often have a twist of their own. So don’t miss what I will make in just a couple of days.
There is a tradition over at CKC of titling our kits just like companies do. So I’m calling mine…
Lazy Wayz
I did not create a video this month since my kit building was so, well, lazy. But you know, sometimes that is just what I need. I will focus on using it to scrap with!
I hope you can follow along with the other designers and see how they interpreted their own kits. Here’s the full hop link list

I’ll be back on the 4th, for our Product Forgeries. Until then, have an artful day!
This looks like a beautiful “sunnY” kit. I’m sure you will do justice to your photos. The frames are lovely. I must get some.
